The TradeDots Indicator Philosophy

What Makes Our Indicators Different

1. Built on Market Principles, Not Curve-Fitting

Every indicator is designed around fundamental market concepts:

  • Volume analysis (institutional participation)

  • Momentum persistence (trend continuation)

  • Market structure (trend phases and shifts)

  • Statistical extremes (reversal conditions)

Not designed by:

  • Optimizing parameters until backtest looks perfect

  • Finding patterns in specific historical data

  • Creating black-box "AI" without explanation

2. Transparency Over Secrets

We publish:

  • Algorithm logic

  • Why each component exists (market principle)

  • Limitations and when not to use

  • Moderate technical detail (formulas, pseudocode)

We don't:

  • Hide behind "proprietary formulas"

  • Claim 90%+ accuracy without explanation

  • Show only winning trades

  • Promise holy grail systems

3. Education Over Dependency

Our goal: Make you a better trader who understands tools, not a signal-follower who blindly trusts.

Every chapter teaches:

  • Underlying market concepts

  • Why signals appear

  • When to trust signals (and when to question them)

  • How to combine with other analysis

4. Realistic Expectations

We acknowledge:

  • No indicator is 100% accurate

  • Market conditions affect performance

  • Confirmation is essential

  • Risk management is more important than signals

We don't claim:

  • Perfect accuracy

  • Works in all conditions

  • Replace need for analysis

  • Guarantee profits

How to Use This Section

Recommended Learning Order

For Beginners (Start with these 3)

  3. Combining Indicators - Statistical confirmation frameworks

Time Investment

Per indicator chapter: 60-90 minutes reading + 30-60 minutes practice

Complete section: 8-12 hours for all 6 indicators + combining chapter

Minimum (3 indicators): 4-6 hours

Combining Indicators: The Real Power

Why Multiple Confirmations Matter

Single indicator:

  • 50-60% win rate

  • Higher false signal rate

  • Less confidence in entries

Multiple confirmations (2-3 indicators + volume):

  • 65-75% win rate

  • Reduced false signals

  • Higher confidence in entries

The math: If each indicator is 60% accurate independently, combining 3 reduces false signals exponentially.

The Confirmation Framework

Example trade setup:

  1. Structure: [Chart Pattern & Market Structure] - Uptrend confirmed, at higher low

  2. Momentum: [Smart MACD] - Bullish divergence detected

  3. Entry: [Buy Sell Signals V2] - Buy signal generated

  4. Confirmation: [Price Momentum Reversal] - Oversold, bullish reversal signal

  5. Volume: Increasing on bounce

Result: 5 confirmations aligned = high-probability long setup.

See: Combining Indicators for Maximum Edge for complete combination strategies.

Indicator Selection Guide

"Which Indicators Should I Use?"

It depends on your trading style:

Day Traders

Primary: Buy Sell Signals V2, Price Momentum Reversal Secondary: Volume indicators Why: Need quick, clear signals on lower timeframes (5min, 15min, 1H)

Swing Traders

Primary: Trend Following Buy Sell Signals, Chart Pattern & Market Structure Secondary: Smart MACD, Buy Sell Signals V2 Why: Focus on trend and structure, hold multi-day positions

Position Traders

Primary: Smart MACD (weekly/monthly), Trend Following (daily) Secondary: Chart Pattern & Market Structure Why: Long-term trend identification, ignore noise

Reversal Traders

Primary: Price Momentum Reversal, Price Reversal Probability Secondary: Smart MACD (divergences) Why: Specializes in identifying extreme conditions and reversal probabilities

How Many Indicators Should I Use?

On any single chart: 2-3 maximum

Why: Too many indicators = conflicting signals = paralysis by analysis

Better approach: Master 2-3 indicators deeply rather than using 10 superficially.

Example combination:

  • Chart Pattern & Market Structure (context)

  • Buy Sell Signals V2 (entries)

  • Volume (confirmation)

Result: Clean chart, clear decision-making framework.

Common Questions

"Can I use these on any market?"

Yes. All indicators work on:

  • Stocks (US and international)

  • Forex pairs

  • Cryptocurrencies

  • Commodities

  • Futures

  • Indices

Best markets: Liquid markets with consistent volume (avoid penny stocks, low-volume crypto pairs).

"What timeframes work best?"

All timeframes supported: 1-minute to monthly

Sweet spots:

  • Day trading: 5min, 15min, 1H

  • Swing trading: 4H, Daily

  • Position trading: Daily, Weekly

Lower timeframes (1min, 5min): More noise, require more experience Higher timeframes (Daily, Weekly): Less noise, better for learning

"Do I need Pro Plan for indicators?"

No. All 30 indicators available on both Basic ($79/mo) and Pro ($129/mo) plans.

Pro Plan adds:

  • AI App AI ranking (top 1,000 stocks, real-time)

  • AI Chat for technical analysis

  • Pre-market screener (coming soon)

  • Custom alerts (coming soon)

Indicators alone: Basic Plan sufficient Indicators + stock selection: Pro Plan recommended

"How long to master these indicators?"

Realistic timeline:

  • Week 1: Understand 1 indicator, practice on 20+ charts

  • Week 2-3: Add 2nd indicator, practice combinations

  • Week 4-6: Add 3rd indicator, develop personal system

  • Month 3+: Refinement and consistency

Don't rush. Better to master 2 indicators than superficially know 6.

"Do I need a TradingView Premium plan to use these indicators?"

No, you don't need a premium plan. TradeDots indicators work with TradingView's free account.

However, TradingView Free has limitations:

  • Maximum of 2 indicators per chart (vs. 5+ on paid plans)

  • Limited chart layouts and alerts

For serious traders: Consider upgrading to TradingView Pro/Premium for more indicators per chart and advanced features, but it's not required to use TradeDots.

Setting Realistic Expectations

What These Indicators Will Do

Identify high-probability setups based on proven market principles Reduce noise by filtering out low-conviction signals Automate analysis that you could do manually (but faster and more consistently) Provide confirmation when multiple factors align Educate you on market structure, momentum, and probability

What These Indicators Won't Do

L Guarantee profits no tool can do this L Replace risk management position sizing and stops are still your responsibility L Work in all conditions choppy markets challenge all indicators L Eliminate losses losses are part of trading L Trade for you you make decisions, indicators provide information

The Reality of Win Rates

Our indicators typically achieve:

  • 55-70% win rate with proper use and confirmation

  • 2:1 to 3:1 risk/reward when combined with sound trade management

  • Positive expected value over 50-100+ trade samples

This is realistic. Be skeptical of claims of 85%+ win rates without proof and explanation.
